I have some grave news. I watched "Stardust" last night. It was.. well.. Just appalling. It had Robert De Niro acting all gay like, which to be honest I didn't mind because it's a nice change for the guy, but you know what? I do have two very major concerns.
Firstly this film was recommended to me by a house mate of mine. He's also a fellow film critic (We are both enrolled in the "Film Studies" course at the prestigious Gloucestershire University). Now, he thought this film was quite good, and that theory is just wrong. I know, I know.. each to their own and everything but seriously. He should be stripped of his "Film Student" title. I do know this film is meant for kids but, come on, have some self respect.
Secondly, watching the film I have become concerned that many people have become a little mixed up in their understanding of what a "Hero" is. "Stardust" is a fantasy film that is devoid of a hero as far as I'm concerned. the main protagonist is a scared, miscalculating, deceiving little idiot. He's not enjoyable to watch.
Because of this I'm setting out on a mission, a mission to make a hero, a better and more entertaining one than that twat from "Stardust". One that actually drives a plot.
Wish me luck, first "hero" deviation up soon.
